Lorraine’s story: Hypnotherapy for Sleeping Problems
Why did you come to Changes Welcome Hypnotherapy?
The problem that I came with was that I’m actually quite nocturnal, which is fine, but it doesn’t fit in very well with everyday life and children and school and work and things– although I have shifted my work so that its later– and I wanted to regulate my sleeping patterns. And it was very interesting because I’ve been able to do that to a certain degree but not entirely. But the overall effect is that I don’t concern myself about it or worry about it, I just accept it as part of myself. So I suppose you could say it’s cultivating mental freedom– and it makes me feel a lot better.
What benefits have you felt from your Hypnotherapy for Sleeping Problems?
Through talking to Sam, I realized that actually it was okay because my world is my world and I don’t have to fit in other things– as long as I can fit in the work and things. But the thing is I have shifted my work in order to fit my sleep patterns, and I’m self employed . And hypnotherapy helped me to realize that that’s okay, I don’t have to fit in with patterns of the rest of the world.
Can you describe your experience of Hypnotherapy with Sam?
He’s a very gentle man and very good at listening and also good at treating a client as an equal. There isn’t a sort of a therapist as being better and more sure than the client. And I found that very reassuring. I also liked his accent. I found it very interesting talking to him about people. He gave me an equal one to one chat. But also the hypnotherapy was very interesting because it helped me to be calmer. And have more insight into problems that I have– or perceived problems– and how to deal with them.
How did you feel about the hypnosis part of the sessions?
I loved it, it’s great. Although I did think I’m in trance a part of the time, to be honest. It was very good, it was very peaceful, very calm, and I enjoyed all the sessions. I enjoyed the sound of Sam’s voice and the things he was saying.
