Why did you come to Changes Welcome Hypnotherapy?

I’ve had a long-standing issue with anxiety, stress, and depression on and off for years but at that particular time it reached a peak really and I felt as if I was desperate– I would have tried anything really. So I gave Sam a ring and he said come along and he said he could– well, he thought he could do something to help.


Can you describe your experience of Hypnotherapy with Sam?

It’s very good actually because you feel quite open to talk about any issues whatsoever. And he doesn’t judge you or advise you really, he just listens and then he’ll build that into the hypnosis subconsciously. So from listening to your issues or what’s bothering you at that particular time, he’ll quite cleverly sort of build them into the hypnotherapy session without you realising.


How did you feel about the Hypnosis part of the sessions?

I was a little bit apprehensive I didn’t know how I was meant to feel. So initially it was really just relaxing and sort of listening and letting yourself go.
I didn’t ever feel out of control, or sort of “away with the fairies” if you like. I was always conscious of my surroundings and what was, but really listening and concentrating on his voice really.


How many sessions of Hypnotherapy with Sam?

I had 12 sessions in total and by the end of it we discussed and felt that we’ve sort of come to the end, if you like, but with the option to come back If there was any recurrence or if I felt that there was something else I needed to talk about– or I can just phone him as well. So the door was left open, which was really reassuring.


How long did it take for the Benefits of Hypnotherapy to kick in?

2 to 3 weeks, I would say it took. But Sam used to sit and talk to me for about half an hour prior to the hypnotherapy. He’s got such a calming relaxing manner, and he would explain how the brain functions in a way that I could understand. And once we got to the hypnotherapy I felt quite calm and relaxed. [After] half an hour hypnotherapy, I would go out feeling really calm and really relaxed. And he gave me a CD to listen to, and I used to listen to that at home as well. So It wasn’t just the hour I would have with Sam it was also working at home as well– giving you something to work along with. So yeah it was good.


What other benefits have you felt from your Hypnotherapy Sessions?

I think that I’m more aware of my feelings– how I feel– and I I’m able to pick up when my mood is falling, and then sort of implement the strategies and the tools that Sam’s given me to work through them.


Have other people noticed a change due to your Hypnotherapy Sessions?

Oh definitely yes. Over the last 6 months, family and friends would definitely notice a difference and my husband in particular.


What would your advice be to anyone thinking of Hypnotherapy with Changes Welcome?

I would strongly recommend it, yes. Because there’s nothing to be anxious about. He makes you feel so relaxed and comfortable, and he’s such a good listener as well that you just feel at ease. It’s a very relaxing experience. And yeah I will recommend it.
